A while ago we had introduced you already the meteorite Android NetBook NB-7 of PEARL. Today it is the successor of the well-known mail order PEARL: A 10.1-inch small NetBook Android-based with HDMI output and much more.
The NB-10.HD from PEARL, where at this spot goes once again thank you very much for helping this review, is small only 280 x 195 x 24 mm and weighs 947 grams. It has built a 10.1-inch display with 1024 x 600 pixels, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB Flash memory, an iMAPX210 CPU 1 GHz, and a 1.3 megapixel webcam above the screen. Further, a SDHC slot for up to 32 GB, three USB ports, MIC and 3.5 mm headphone jacks, one RJ45 network port, mini-HDMI and Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n up to 150 Mbit / s. The built-in lithium-ion battery has 3500 mAh and is designed to provide up to seven hours of run time. The QWERTY keyboard has over 100 keys. The NetBook comes with a charger which can be used but only in Europe, a German-speaking guide, and a USB-to mini-USB cable. Installed Android 2.2.1.
the device is black and very nicely designed. On the left you will find the connections for the network cable, earphones, AC adapter and SD card slot. Right are housed six LEDs for status indication: power, status, battery, NumLock, CapsLock, and Wi-Fi. Are further along his PC to connect to the device, a mini-port of USB, two USB ports for external devices and the mini-HDMI connector can be found here. It flips open the NetBook, two speakers are housed the trackpad with two buttons on either side above the keyboard, bottom centre. All parts fit well into each other, it creaks or nothing squeaks.

The keyboard, which is white (or blue for the functionality to be achieved via FN) is labeled has a few special keys: home, search and menu and screen turn are arranged below directly between the FN and the space bar. As with the NB-7 are the F-keys of the digits are as follows from left to right: to invoke the Ethernet, then wireless network configuration, create the File Explorer, Web browser, email, calendar, photo library, music library, quieter, louder, NUM-LOCK, screenshot and the marketplace. However, this is an app Center with access to the AndroidPit market at first. But the regular Android market Google can be used further and the most apps run correctly. The NetBook has however no GPS module, Bluetooth or offers a cellular connection. But via USB port, UMTS-sticks can be relatively easily connect and use. Above the keyboard, the microphone is installed, together with the camera to use quite well for video chats. This webcam with 1.3 megapixel resolution is as regards quality and image stability on, but quite passable in good illumination of course not outstanding.
The display is quite well resolved for its size and not reflected. Thanks to LED technology, the viewing angle and brightness is relatively large, however, the color saturation is not very tingly and black screen sections could be darker a little for my taste.
The 1 GHz fast processor in conjunction with the 512 MB DDR2 RAM can be the system and the apps very well start and use. Current games like angry birds Rio work very well, as well as YouTube videos can be displayed easily. A real step forward compared to the previous model!
The built-in Media Player is identical with the of the NB-7 completely acceptable. Various video formats, including MKV-and ISO files processed, and can play AAC and FLAC audio and much more. Also, subtitles from files can be read and set about the film. He cannot manage MP3 with embedded cover art, however, the cover must be stored as a Folder.jpg, a pity.
We come to the USP, the HDMI output: this is via a mini-HDMI socket as realized already mentioned on the right side of the device and provides images up to 720 p. That works also perfectly and so you can enjoy his movies on the large screen TV or projector without any problem with the NetBook.
Since the NB-10.HD has no touch screen, and because Android is still designed for such an operation is often somewhat cumbersome. Also very badly resolved: If one rotates the screen by key or by app, the Trackpadausrichtung will not be changed! Thus, it’s pretty hard to work properly with the device in portrait or to play.
The battery is sufficient about six hours with Active Wi-Fi. The problem is that the NB-10, like the previous model, no standby mode knows. Even if it works to the display, it remains lit, until the set Stromspardauer attacks. You must turn off the NetBook, to conserve battery power. This is particularly annoying, because starting a minute well needed.
Price
The NB-10.HD meteorite NetBook costs 169,90 EUR or CHF 199.90 at PEARL exclusively selling the device.
Bottom line
A NetBook with Android is not just the perfect concept. But thanks to Google Android market, the device has access to numerous free apps. The equipment leaves but not much left, and important and good properties have been added with the HDMI output and double memory size compared to its predecessor. For the price, OK. Could you about Ubuntu Flash, a good alternative to other Netbooks on the market.
